The Broward Partnership commemorated an important milestone in its 15-year history with a special ribbon cutting ceremony to formally dedicate its new 30-bed family dorm December 2014. Through a generous $100,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the Partnership was able to renovate existing space and expand housing capacity for the first time in history.
This historic undertaking now provides the Partnership with the ability to provide food, shelter and services to up to 230 individuals at any given time. More importantly, it allows the Partnership to help even more women with children, one of the most vulnerable populations of those experiencing homelessness, to reacquire health, housing and employment as rapidly as possible.
On February 28, 2014, the Broward Partnership was presented with the “Outstanding Non-Profit Organization of the Year” award at the 4th Annual PNC Bank Non-Profit Academy Awards. The award honors an organization that accomplishes significant results and serves as a model for other non-profit organizations, and the judges focused on the following key areas of non-profit excellence:
- Exceptional overall results and impact
- Strong governance and executive leadership
- Financial stability
- Effective community engagement and partnerships
Competition for the award was fierce, and the Partnership’s selection as winner is a testament to the leadership of our financial supporters, board of directors and the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff -- all of which make a lasting impact on the issue of homelessness in our community.
