SunTrust Supports Efforts to Help the Homeless

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. – SunTrust Banks, Inc., one of the nation's largest commercial banking organizations, has made a generous donation in the amount of $12,000 to Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc. (BPH).

Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc.’s (BPHI) mission is to reduce homelessness in Broward County. The organization operates two facilities - the Broward County Central Homeless Assistance Center on the Huizenga Family campus, a 200-bed emergency housing facility for homeless men, women and families with children, and Inverrary Station, a 62-bed transitional housing facility for the elderly homeless who are disabled.

Since opening its doors in 1999, more than 13,000 homeless individuals have taken advantage of the services provided by BPHI – in addition to a safe secure place to stay and nutritional meals, BPHI residents receive mental health counseling, primary medical and dental care, substance abuse treatment, case management, education, vocational training, employment services, and support services for the families including day care for the children.

“BPHI cares for more than 1,400 homeless individuals every year, rebuilding their self esteem and providing them with solution-focused services and support needed to reenter society and guard against repeated episodes of homelessness,” said Frances M.
